Jonah's classroom celebration of turning 6 - came with a hat and everything!

Jonah and Granny went to a local production of  A Christmas Carol and Cowie snuck in as an unpaid observer.

Jonah recently stood up to his alleged salmon challenge in the allergists office and won.  Strike one allergy from the list as Jonah's food options expand!

Last weekend both Ronald McDonald Houses we stayed at had their holiday parties.  We were total party hoppers and did them both.  Here is Jonah at the CDH party by the Christmas tree with an ornament he made this spring (gingerbread man with 3 green "buttons").  The "Hope" heart was made by Jonah's "girlfriend",Victoria, who is 17 and in treatment in Indiana.  Victoria is actively in treatment and wasn't able to attend the party, but it was nice to see their ornaments together at least.

Jonah's other "girlfriend", Katie.  Jonah had an ophthalmology appointment and we just had to swing by and see Katie.  She's such a special friend, and it helped that she had a birthday present to surprise him with.

Friday, Jonah had an early morning ophthalmology appointment at Lurie, so we were up and out bright and early.  Outside of our early start, the day was perfectly normal, until Jonah complained about a headache.  For you or me, an occasional headache isn't a big deal, but with Jonah it immediately puts me on edge.  I took a deep breath, gave him some ibuprofen and moved on with the day.  Saturday another headache and again Sunday.  At this point, I suspect that most mothers would have their suspicions raised. As a cancer mom, I'm trying to not jump off a cliff -

- Is this a shunt malfunction?
- Is this somehow tumor related?
- Is he getting sick and just doesn't have any other symptoms yet?
- Does he just really like the taste of ibuprofen?
- Is this a nothing and I just need to relax?
- Is this a something that risks taking the twinkle out of the season?

This is how life goes now.  Our plans are not only governed by 3 month MRIs, but things that might be moderately alarming in other circumstances are extremely alarming in Jonah's circumstances.  Monday will dawn, and with it, a consultation with the medical team to determine what to make of 3 days of headaches.   Please pray with us that it is a nothing, simply a penchant for berry flavored ibuprofen or a sensitivity to the snow storm that swept in.
